Thanksgiving Thursday, Black Friday, Cyber Monday…. Giving Tuesday.

Start the weekend by giving thanks, and end it by giving a little back to your community!!

Giving Tuesday kicks off the holiday season, when folks start coming together to really make a difference in their communities. Since its inaugural year in 2012, #GivingTuesday has become a movement that celebrates and supports giving and philanthropy with events. From clothing drives, toy drives, creek clean ups, tree planitngs, and more, kids and adults alike come together to give a little holiday back to their neightborhoods!!

Mountains Restoration Trust is giving back to the natural communities here in the Santa Monica Mountains! We’re hosting a Crayfish Removal Open House event in honor of this national day of service.

Come help us remove crayfish from Tapia State Park! Crayfish are a non-native species to California, and they’re considered invasive because they cause quite a bit of damage to the aquatic ecosystems. They prey on native species, reduce water quality, and cause problems with creek bed erosion. We need your help in trapping and removing the crayfish as well as picking up trash along the stream.

This event is great fun for volunteers of all ages! Volunteers 12 years or younger must be accompanied by an adult. Volunteers under the age of 18 must bring the Parental Consent Form with a parent or guardian’s signature if the parent or guardian is not attending.

Registration is free, but required. Registered volunteers will receive an email confirmation with more details.
