Different

Unlike many other local, environmental organizations, Mountains Restoration Trust (MRT) is a non-government organization. Other organizations working in the Santa Monica Mountains conservation arena are government agencies, such as the Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority (MRCA), Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Restoration (LADCPR) and Conejo Open Space Conservation Agency (COSCA). MRT is not included in any government budget. However, MRT works with government agencies on a project-by-project basis.

MRT's creative approach to creating a healthy place where people can enjoy the beautiful Santa Monica Mountains, takes dedicated, forward-minded individuals coming together with communities, people and nature.

MRT takes a down-to-earth approach to working in cooperation with the many agencies and non-government organizations working in the Santa Monica Mountains to develop a healthier, more sustainable approach to maintaining a healthy relationship between urban sprawl and the wild places.

MRT's collaborative approach researches and develops pragmatic solutions to complex environmental issues facing the area's fragile environment with necessary, well-managed development.
